Charles Rotter

We missed this story twelve days ago but this is still something worth noting and celebrating.

We can celebrate a remarkable milestone for a beacon of reason in the climate debate: Watts Up With That (WUWT) has surpassed an astounding 500 million pageviews!

For more than a decade and a half WUWT has been a stalwart in challenging the mainstream narrative on climate change, providing a platform for rigorous scientific discussion, and highlighting the inconsistencies and failures often glossed over by climate alarmists. This achievement is not just a testament to the quality of content and the dedication of its contributors but also to the discerning readers who seek truth over sensationalism.

In a world where alarmist headlines often overshadow rational discourse, WUWT has consistently provided a space for critical thinking and open debate.

This milestone is not merely a number; it’s a reflection of the trust and credibility WUWT has built over the years. It’s a reminder that there’s a vast audience out there hungry for balanced, well-researched, and honest perspectives on climate science.

As we celebrate this achievement, let’s also take a moment to reflect on the importance of free speech and open dialogue in science. The road to understanding is paved with questions, skepticism, and rigorous debate. WUWT has been a champion of this approach, and the 500 million pageviews are a testament to its success in fostering informed discussions.

Science thrives in openness. In a domain as complex and multifaceted as climate science, platforms like WUWT are essential to ensure that discussion is allowed.”

In conclusion, congratulations to Watts Up With That for this monumental achievement. Here’s to many more milestones, many more debates, and a continued commitment to truth and transparency in the realm of climate science.

Note: The counter in our sidebar says “hits” not pageviews which in the earlier Internet days meant every request to the server, including every image download, etc. This is not the case with this current version. Over the years we get a range of 1.5 million to 4 million pageviews a month which is absolutely congruent with the counter noting pageviews.

Thank you cagwsceptic and KevinM.

When I read that I thought it meant something like a visit to a webpage. But when I read your question I realised that this is technical jargon that I’m unfamiliar with and my guess may well have been wrong.

Good question to ask and thanks for the clarification.

I came across WUWT in 2007, the year following its founding, so it’s been a constant part of my intellectual diet for the duration. I owe a lot to the many for the education I got here and to the creator, Anthony Watts, moderators, like Charles and contributors. Great stuff!)

Take a bow Anthony and the team of contributors who keep WUWT as a beacon of rectitude, enquiry and scientific rigour in the global warming debate. This is a well-deserved pat on the back for standing up for objective, fact-based discussions – and in some cases for facing up to threat of being ‘cancelled’ by weak-minded colleagues who lack the moral fibre to do the right thing. That sound you can hear is a huge round of applause coming from the U.K.

Battling the climatistas and sustainists in regressive higher education for 22 years, I’ve read and greatly benefitted from WUWT almost daily for well over a decade. This is THE authoritative place for science news and analysis regarding climate.

Activist science, media, NGOs, societies, “philanthropies,” and government are always welcome but are afraid to engage or debate here.

And what the WUWT team can be particularly proud of is offering open debate for all viewpoints in the comments sections.

We all notice that in many msm sites and blogs, comments sections are either not opened at all, and / or any submitted comments that aren’t robustly supportive of “the narrative” are unceremoniously blocked.

Stay true to your commitment to open, free speech guys.
It’s becoming a scarcer commodity by the week.

Many thanks to Anthony and Charles plus the whole WUWT team. You provide a window…. no, more of a door into the actual world of science and real scientific debate.
This is one of only three sites I have daily loaded on my computer. I love the back and for scientific rallies that take place.
Long may this open source of wisdom and truth seeking continue.
I also thank the real scientific contributors for their balance and ability to present complex issues in a style and manner, that those outside the world of academia can follow and readily absorb ‘real’ science.

WUWT remains just specialized enough and just far enough off the the beaten path . Just right. In the top 1 % of intellectual integrity. It is possible to test the waters of an idea, opinion, concept or theory here at WUWT without being subjected to the ruinous on slot of trolls, and dogmatic shallow minded from the various useful idiot groups.

Lost power for 4 hours today. A bridge leading to my ‘hood had to be completely rebuilt. Today the power company (National Grid) turned off power – not sure why. It really sucked. No furnace, no cooking, no internet, no TV, no lights, no computer. I suppose I should get used to it- now that we’re heading towards net zero nirvana- it’ll happen more and more often.

Congrats! I have enjoyed this content from the very beginning. I don’t comment, normally, and this is a special occasion. I do enjoy reading the debate in the comment section. Congrats. You are doing good work.

One wonders how long before they shut you down. The PEW numbers are usually pretty good and suggest roughly 40% of the citizens support not only “re-education” camps but certainly controlling content available to the public. I have followed PEW and used extensively in my work life with some success. The demographics of this world view are pretty clear. Demographics drive the information control issue and information control drives the climate nonsense.

This site is the proverbial “canary in a coal mine.” for me. When you go offline, it will be a milestone.

Potential story tip….
“Luton airport closed and flights suspended after huge fire in car park”. The building seems to have partially collapsed.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/oct/10/huge-fire-breaks-out-at-luton-airport-car-park

Enquiring minds want to know: there was apparently one car which started the conflagration, and work was underway to extinguish it when the fire spread very rapidly from it.

What kind of car was that one?

About ten years ago I, along with a few other bovine fellow Canadians who believed everything CBC said, went to see Tim Ball speak. I expected to ridicule him but instead I was dismayed to find that we were being told less than half the story about global warming. I went looking for answers and found WUWT. Ever since it has been my anchor in a sea of lies, exaggeration, half truths and fear. When I find myself doubting my sanity I can go to WUWT and find sensible critiques of the latest MSM fear campaigns and I know I am not alone. I even enjoy the warmist trolls who now comment on nearly every article. I wonder if a few might see the light if we took the time to reason with them instead of just ridiculing them? Anyway, WUWT has been a minor miracle for me. Thanks team. (listening to CBC now makes me feel sick to my stomach)

0.000011% of the 500,000,000 views have been mine since August 2008. Congratulations Anthony for providing an excellent public service! I arrived a WUWT in 2008 with little knowledge about climate, meteorology, geology, physics, astronomy and their applied fields. At that time even as a democrat, I was convinced that ‘Global Warming’ (‘climate change’ didn’t become a popular label until after the solar minimum of the 23rd cycle) was a political movement because it’s one variable theory…(human civilization) with the fallacy of consensus as proof. Theories about complex phenomena that restrict to one variable are self-serving pseudoscience.

My entire family learned so much about science in general… a huge benefit!
